Seit Jänner sind die neuen lokalen KünstlerInnen im Salzamt, in vier Gemeinschaftsateliers arbeiten die nächsten beiden Jahre zehn Linzer KünstlerInnen.
Welche Themen und Medien beschäftigen sie, woran arbeiten sie zur Zeit?
Einen ersten Einblick in die künstlerische Praxis und laufende Projekte soll diese Gruppenausstellung bieten, die auch räumlich die Struktur der vier Ateliers übernehmen wird.

Green Screen Tree

Green Screen Tree is a live green screen video installation. A large Green Screen is wedged to the ceiling with a bamboo stick, forming a fabric sculpture that stands in the room as a green column. In the monitor on the floor, you can see the live image of the entire room installation, including the work Heimliches Arbeiten beginnt. The wedged green pillar is keyed out and replaced by a video. In this video shows the artist in a blue coat working on a computer, which refers to the opening performance Break (orange).
The video installation Green Screen Tree is part of the solo show Heimliches arbeiten beginnt and consists of three works that are strongly interlinked and create a strongly connected world.

Boden kann man das Livebild der gesamten Rauminstallation inklusive der Arbeit Heimliches Arbeiten beginnt sehen. Die gekeilte grüne Säule wird ausgekeyt und durch ein Video ersetzt. In diesem Video sieht man den Künstler in einem blauen Mantel und an einem Computer arbeiten, das bezieht sich auf die Eröffnungsperformance Break (orange).

The opening-performance Break (Orange) was part of a the solo show Heimliches arbeiten beginnt. in Vienna. The Show consist of three works which interlock with each other and create a strongly interconnected world. The performance is connected to the video installation Green Screen Tree, picks up elements of it and changing the setting of the whole show to completing it.

Sebastian Six ist ein interdisziplinärer Künstler. Raum-akustische Experimente in Verbindung mit Alltagsgegenständen, skulpturale Assemblagen bzw. die physische Komponente von Klang sind die zentralen Elemente seiner visuellen und klanglichen Kompositionen. Die Arbeiten beschäftigen sich mit Momenten, in denen Lärm zu Musik wird und der Unterschied zwischen Hören und aktivem Zuhören erforscht wird.

Après Après
This sound installation refers to a popular party phenomenon in ski resorts called après-ski. Mindless music at 120 bpm, twirling rave trumpets, ski boots, lots of alcohol and boisterous DJs are the ingredients for this type of post-skiing celebration. The recorded exclamations and exuberant commands of an après-ski DJ in Flachau, a popular ski resort in the Austrian alps, were used for the Après Après sound installation. Shouts and prompts such as “put your hands up in the air”, zicke zacke zicke zacke and “louder” are the basic elements of the composition.
Installed under a motorway bridge, the mood clearly contrasts with the party atmosphere of après-ski events. In such a divergent situation, the animated calls from the DJ take on an absurd quality. Who is this man cheering for? Himself, the employees of the ski resort, the tourists?
[su_accordion][su_spoiler title=“Deutsch“ open=“no“ style=“default“ icon=“plus“ anchor=““ class=““]Die Klanginstallation widmet sich einem spezifischen Phänomen in vielen Wintersportorten: dem Après-Ski. Sinn entleerte Musik bei 120 bpm, zwirbelnde Ravetrompeten, viel Alkohol und aufgekratzte DJ-Einpeitscher sind die Zutaten für diese Abendgestaltung in Skischuhen.Die Künstlergruppe FAXEN hat für ihre Arbeit einen Abend lang die Arbeit eines Après-Ski DJs, seine Durch- und Ansagen, seine Animationen und sein Anfeuern des Publikums aufgenommen. Aus diesen Aufnahmen wurde die 2-Kanal Klangkollage mit dem Titel Après Après produziert.Zu hören ist die Klanginstallation an einem einsamen und verlassen Ort: Unter der Autobahn. In Kontrast zur aufgeheizten Atmosphäre im Après Ski Partyraum hören wir nun die isolierten Anfeuerungen einer sich fast überschlagenden Stimme. Es wird angefeuert, immer weiter, die Hände in die Höhe, der Pegel nahe am Limit, ZikeZakeZikeZake. Wen feuert dieser Mann an? Sich selbst, die MitarbeiterInnen welche die Maschine Tourismus am Leben halten, die Gäste, damit sie auch immer wieder kommen? „Scheiß egal, Flachau ist nur einmal im Jahr!“ heißt es nicht umsonst in einer der Après-Ski Partyhymnen.[/su_spoiler][/su_accordion]

minus 20 degree | Flachau/AT | 8. – 10.2.2018
Founded in 2012, minus20degree winter biennial is a non-profit initiative that promotes art and architecture from around the world. The basic elements of m20d are snow and landscape. the intention is to design or stage diverse landscapes with simple interventions and make them accessible to the public. m20d interprets the existing winter landscape as a laboratory, with snow as the primary resource for all expressions of art and architecture. The 4th edition of the biennial will be staged from the 8th till the 10th of February 2018 in Flachau, Austria.

New Piece on the Soundmaps Compilation from Sonospace
I´m happy to announce that my new Piece „Signal Rock“ is featured on Sonospace and will be Part of the soon Coming Compilation Sound Maps For The Dreamer Volume 2.
About the Compilation and the Open Call:
Maps have always been a fascinating way to pass the time as well as a useful tool for navigating a territory. The digital age gave us even more chance to easily locate specific locations or simply to drift off into the exact details of our planet.
For a long time now we have had sound maps which use the framework digital maps provide to tag field recordings to their exact Geo-location. At Sonospace we are taking a different approach. We are looking backwards to the paper maps of long ago. We are linking sounds and compositions from non-related audio recordings to these maps. Re-imagining the world in an artistic and completely fictional way.
So, following the launch of Sonospace Maps at the beginning of 2017 we are now ready to accept submissions for participation. Come with us to map the world with our heart and paint a sonic vision of places we may never visit.

The multi-parted work “Firedrake“ examines attempts of the Chinese The multi-part work „Firedrake“ examines attempts by the Chinese government to censor foreign shortwave radio stations, known as jamming, and methods of circumventing this interference by manipulating radios. By constantly playing an hour-long piece of Chinese folk music entitled “Firedrake“, radio stations such as Voice of America, Radio Free Asia and BBC World Service are muted by the Chinese authorities. The DIY solution to bypassing Chinese jamming is to use modified radios outfitted with anti-jamming antennas. The materials needed to build these antennas pose the starting point for the acoustic improvisation featured in the video. Additionally, a fictional radio program can be heard that includes snippets of an interview, multiple recordings of shortwave radio stations and the “Firedrake” broadcast.

Durch das ständige Spielen eines einstündigen chinesischen Volksmusikliedes mit dem Titel “Firedrake” werden Radiosender wie Voice of America, Radio Free Asia und BBC World Service für die ZuhörerInnen unhörbar. Zur Umgehung dieser Störung wurden simple DIY Anpassungen an Radiogeräten entwickelt. Die Materialien dieser Adaptionen bilden die Grundlage für eine akustische Improvisation die als Video zu sehen ist. Zusätzlich ist ein fiktives Radioprogramm mit Interviewausschnitten, mehreren Aufnahmen von diversen Kurzwellenradios und das “Firedrake” Stück zu hören.[/su_spoiler][/su_accordion]
