Klangperformance bei der Eröffnung des Land Art Projekt „Sichttiefe“ von Laurien Bachmann
Ich freue mich, die Eröffnungsperformance für das Land Art Projekt »Sichttiefe« von Laurien Bachmann am 5. April 2025 gestalten zu dürfen.
Laurien Bachmann gewann im Frühjahr 2024 den Ideenwettbewerb zur künstlerischen Gestaltung des Kienbergwandtunnels mit dem Projekt „Sichttiefe“. Ziel des nicht offenen Wettbewerbs war die Erlangung von Konzepten für eine künstlerische Gestaltung im Bereich des Kienbergwandtunnels am Mondsee (Gemeinde St. Gilgen). Laurien Bachmann überzeugte die Jury mit ihrem Konzept für die Fotoinstallation „Sichttiefe“. Im Frühjahr 2024 wurden Fotoaufnahmen von charakteristischen Punkten im See gemacht. Die Fotoinstallation wird ergänzt durch die Anbringung der Koordinaten der Aufnahmestandorte an 48 Tunnelsäulen. Die Präsentation des Projektes ist für den 5. April 2025 geplant.
In ihren künstlerischen Arbeiten integriert Laurien Bachmann themen- und ortsbezogene Fundstücke und verknüpft diese mit digitalen Medien. Dabei erforscht sie öffentliche Räume, ländliche Topografien und persönliche Erinnerungen, inszeniert Beobachtungen in Stand- und Bewegtbildern, oft an der Grenze zwischen Fiktion und Wirklichkeit.
Laurien Bachmann wird erste Einblicke in ihre Fotoinstallation „Sichttiefe“ (Arbeitstitel) geben und uns mit auf ihre Reise in die imaginäre Unterwasserwelt des Mondsees nehmen.

Dieses Projekt ist das siebte Land Art Projekt im Mondseeland des Vereins Mundwerkund wird am 5. April 2025 ab 15:00 Uhr in Anwesenheit der Künstlerin feierlich eröffnet. Am Programm stehen ein Gespräch von Annelies Senfter (Juryvorsitzende Kunst am Bau) mit der Künstlerin, eine Lesung von Sarah Rinderer und eine Klangperformance von Sebastian Six.

Mathias Müller und Sebastian Six nehmen in ihrem Live-Hörstück die alte Idee eines Theatrum Mundi beim Wort und lassen die Welt Szene für Szene als Bühnenkonstruktion neu erstehen. Kaum sind Himmel und Meer voneinander geschieden, ist auch schon unschwer unsere Jetztzeit zu erkennen: Die Mechanik ist überbordend, die Ressourcen werden knapp – aber nicht alle Bühnenarbeiter*innen folgen dem Text.

Carolin Krahl widmet ihr Hörstück Irmtraud Morgner (1933-1990), die in der DDR im Nachhall von Zensurerfahrungen feministische Gesellschaftskritik im Gewand fantastischer, mythologischer und historischer Stoffe verhandelte. Dem Roman Leben und Abenteuer der Trobadora Beatriz nach Zeugnissen ihrer Spielfrau Laura(1974) entstammt ihre emanzipatorische Version der Sagengestalt Melusine. Carolin Krahl holt Morgners Melusine in die Gegenwart, wo sie noch immer gebraucht würde, aber entkräftet daliegt. In der widerspenstigen, formal offenen akustischen Erzählung kündigt sich eine Lösung an.

Giggling, gurgling and squealing with laughter, the performer conquers the streets of the vibrant city of Tokyo. „Joyful Aspects“ is an acoustic and humorous exploration of the artist’s immediate surroundings. Carried by the continuous laughter that fills the streets of the metropolis. The Work offers a personal and reflective perspective on Tokyo and the different ways of seeing joy in everyday life.
Laurien Bachmann (*1992) and Sebastian Six (*1980) are visual artists currently based in Linz/Austria. In their collaborative work they often deal with different topographies and acoustic spaces.

Bühne, Szenenbeschreibung, Dialog. Die Form wird Szene für Szene wiederholt. Immer härter wird die Wiederholung, immer unausweichlicher fühlt sich die Struktur und die Ordnung an, wie die Bühne, auf der alles seine Ordnung hat. Aber auch in der Wiederholung sind schon Risse zu spüren, Sprünge und Aufblitzen von Widerstand. Vor allem in den Dialogen, in denen oft die Bühnenarbeiter*innen zu Wort kommen, die an die Möglichkeit eines anderen Theaters glauben. Auch wenn das bedeuten würde, die Bühne niederzureißen. Die Proben unterbrechen die Wiederholung immer öfters, aber vielleicht wird kein neues Stück, sondern der Aufstand geprobt.
Sebastian Six und Mathias Müller werden in der MAERZ den Text „Die Bühne wächst“ zum ersten Mal als Live-Hörspiel präsentieren.
Mathias Müller, Autor und Übersetzer, ist 1988 in Bludenz geboren und lebt seit seinem Studium der Komparatistik in Wien. Müller ist Teil des Ilse-Aichinger-Hauses und des von Peter Waterhouse initiierten Übersetzer*innenkollektivs Versatorium (u.a. Charles Bernstein, Rosmarie Waldrop). Birnengasse – seine erste Einzelveröffentlichung – wird gerade ins Norwegische übersetzt.

The Ears Have Walls
bb15 collective uses the exhibition series “Über das Neue” to eavesdrop on the soundscape of the museum. The installation The Ears Have Walls is based on covert audio recordings that were made during all the openings of the exhibition series of 2023. The resulting sound installation unfolds like a sonic mirror, with the distant reverberating of past conversations and ambient noise. Be it as part of an opening speech, stand-alone voice fragments commenting on the art or a simple question about the buffet situation.
An echo chamber is made of walls and surfaces on which signals bounce and reflect. It is a sealed space dedicated to selective listening that amplifies and reinforces the original source. Good insulation is necessary to refrain from conflicting perspectives that infiltrate and tarnish a curated vision of the world.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the INNVIERTLER KÜNSTLERGILDE, the artists‘ association MAERZ is participating in the anniversary exhibition at the Schlossgalerie Schärding with a film and video program curated by Eginhartz Kanter and Leo Schatzl.
Since its foundation in 1913, MAERZ has seen itself as an interdisciplinary association of artists. Its diversity of disciplines makes it an ideal place for exchange and dialogue and an unconventional meeting place for artistic positions. Committed to a contemporary, open art discourse, MAERZ has always focused not only on the presentation of its members‘ current artistic work, but also on permanent interregional communication with other artists.
Anlässlich des 100-jährigen Bestehens der INNVIERTLER KÜNSTLERGILDE beteiligt sich die KünstlerInnenvereinigung MAERZ mit einem von Eginhartz Kanter und Leo Schatzl kuratierten Film- und Videoprogramm an der Jubiläumsausstellung in der Schlossgalerie Schärding.
Seit ihrer Gründung im Jahr 1913 versteht sich die MAERZ als eine interdisziplinäre Künstler- und Künstlerinnenvereinigung. Ihre Spartenvielfalt macht sie zu einem idealen Ort des Austausches und des Dialogs und zu einem unkonventionellen Treffpunkt künstlerischer Positionen. Einem jeweils zeitgemäßen offenen Kunstdiskurs verpflichtet, war und ist in der MAERZ neben der Präsentation des aktuellen künstlerischen Schaffens der eigenen Mitglieder folgerichtig auch die permanente überregionale Kommunikation mit anderen KünstlerInnen ein wesentlicher Schwerpunkt.

Das Co.Lab Akustische Ökologie mit Schwerpunkt akustischer Lehre und Forschung, beschäftigt sich mit einem ganzheitlichen (systemischen) Zugang der zunehmenden Bedeutung akustischer Fragestellungen in der Gesellschaft (Stichwort: Acoustic Turn). Und da „die Gegenwart durch die Vergangenheit zu uns klingt“ (Sam Auinger), wollen wir bei diesem Klangspaziergang jene Orte am Hauptplatz aufsuchen, wo die künstlerische Aufführung durch die Architektur stark beeinflusst und bereichert wird. Von 15:00 bis 21:00 Uhr können sie an unterschiedlichen Orten Soundinterventionen erleben.
An zehn Orten hat das Co.Lab Akustische Ökologie diverse Soundinterventionen erstellt – erleben Sie einen Klangspaziergang, bei dem an architektonisch neuralgischen Stationen gemäß Sam Auinger „die Gegenwart durch die Vergangenheit zu uns klingt“. Die Hörplätze ziehen sich von der Badgasse 7 über zehn Stationen bis in den Alten Dom.

Die Werkankäufe des Jahres 2022

Seit dem Jahr 1947 unterstützt das Land Oberösterreich Kunstschaffende mit dem Ankauf ihrer Werke für die Sammlung des Landes. Seit 2009 kümmert sich die KUNSTSAMMLUNG um deren wissenschaftliche Bearbeitung, Publizierung und den Verleih in der Artothek. Sie gibt damit einen umfassenden Einblick in die Entwicklung des oberösterreichischen Kunstschaffens, dem mit den Ankäufen auch ein besonderes Zeichen der Wertschätzung entgegengebracht werden soll.
Die heurige Sommerausstellung zeigt die jüngsten Erwerbungen aus den Jurierungen des Jahres 2022, ab Herbst werden wiederum viele der Arbeiten in der ARTOTHEK für den Verleih bereitstehen.

Internationale Konferenz zur Zukunft des nichtkommerziellen Fernsehens
Das digitale Zeitalter stellt Kultur, Politik und Gesellschaft vor große Herausforderungen. Vielfältige Öffentlichkeiten werden durch die Macht der Algorithmen gefährlich ausgehöhlt, Desinformation und Manipulation führen zur Destabilisierung einer demokratischen Medienlandschaft (Infodemie).
Nichtkommerzielles Fernsehen positioniert sich im lokalen und regionalen Kontext mit alternativen Angeboten, die Beteiligung fördern und minoritäre Perspektiven und Standpunkte sichtbar machen. Die Konferenz mit künstlerischem Rahmenprogramm verhandelt diskursive Aussichten zur Zukunftsentwicklung, die auch postmigrantische und postkoloniale Gesichtspunkte berücksichtigt.
Ziel ist es, nichtkommerzielles Fernsehen gerade in Krisenzeiten in seiner Funktion als zivilgesellschaftlichen Kristallisationspunkt für soziokulturelle Veränderungen und demokratische Partizipation zu stärken und als unverzichtbaren Impulsgeber für ein neues öffentliches Bewusstsein zu verankern.
17.00 Uhr: Eröffnung einer Ausstellung im splace am Hauptplatz, die künstlerische Positionen zur Debatte einbringt.

Liebe Teilnehmer:innen.
ich freue mich, dass ihr Interesse am Circuit Bending Workshop habt.
Circuit Bending ist eine experimentelle Kunstform, bei der elektronische Geräte modifiziert werden, um neue und unerwartete Klänge zu erzeugen. Im Workshop lernt ihr, wie man Schaltkreise verändert und neue Verbindungen hinzufügt, um elektronische Geräte wie Keyboards, Spielzeuginstrumente und andere Klanggeneratoren zu wilden und unzähmbaren Klangmaschinen zu machen.
Um am Workshop teilzunehmen, bringt am besten jede*r ein Spielzeug-Keyboard oder einen anderen Klangerzeuger mit, den ihr modifizieren möchtet.
!! Bitte beachtet, dass nicht alle Geräte für das Circuit Bending geeignet sind!!
Am besten ihr bringt ein Gerät mit Batteriebetrieb mit, das noch funktioniert und auch kaputt gehen darf.
Am Ende des Workshops solltet ihr so mindestens eine einfache Modifikation oder einen Hack gebaut, und so den Geist aus euren Instrumenten gekitzelt haben.
Der Workshop ist für alle Teilnehmer:innen geeignet, unabhängig von Erfahrung mit Elektronik und Musikproduktion.

Aufwärts fallen
Um Menschen zu überzeugen, bedarf es bisweilen weniger Wissen- schaftlichkeit und Fakten als gut erzählter Geschichten. Das Narrativ zu bestimmen, bedeutet Macht. Wie diese Macht korrumpiert und welche Gefahren davon ausgehen, führen Debatten über Lügenpresse, Filter- blasen oder Verschwörungstheorien vor Augen. „Aufwärts fallen“ versucht gängige Narrative aus ihrer Starre zu lösen, Konzepte von Wahrheit und Lüge in Frage zu stellen und die Fähigkeit des Zweifelns als eine unserer wichtigsten Eigenschaften zu reflektieren.

ELEMENTAREREIGNISSE
To commemorate their jubilee anniversary in 2022, the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) will focus on the coming 150 years, i.e. they will look ahead to the long term. BOKU’s research into sustainability, resource management and the preservation and protection of the environment and our quality of life forms the starting point for the program series Elementarereignisse.
This artistic concept of the bb15 curatorial team, which will be realised on the occasion of BOKU’s anniversary year on behalf of BIG ART, revolves around the concepts of disruption, blockage and disaster. Three temporary artistic interventions will be implemented on the university campus. These elementary events are intended to create irritations within everyday structures, thereby generating attention around BOKU’s socially relevant research interests.
The opening of the temporary interventions will take place on Monday, 23 May 2022, 13:00 at the BOKU Campus (Wilhelm-Exner-Haus, Peter-Jordan-Straße 82, 1180 Wien). We will keep you informed about further dates and events under News and on social media!
m Jubiläumsjahr 2022 wird die Universität für Bodenkultur ihren Blick vorrangig auf die kommenden 150 Jahre richten, also nachhaltig vorausschauen. Die Forschung der BOKU in den Bereichen Nachhaltigkeit, Ressourcenmanagement sowie Erhalt und Schutz unserer Umwelt und Lebensqualität bildet den inhaltlichen Ausgangspunkt für die Programmreihe Elementarereignisse.
Das künstlerische Konzept des Kurator*innenteams bb15, das anlässlich des Jubiläumsjahres der BOKU im Auftrag von BIG ART realisiert wird, kreist dabei um die Begriffe Störung, Blockade und Desaster. Drei temporäre künstlerische Interventionen werden am Gelände der Universität umgesetzt. Diese Elementarereignisse schaffen Irritation im alltäglichen Gefüge und generieren dadurch Aufmerksamkeit für die gesellschaftlich relevanten Forschungsgebiete der BOKU.

In the multidisciplinary room installation „Langsamdreher“ transforms Sebastian Six the Eboran Gallery with the help of sound, sculpture and video into a seemingly absurd shopping world.
Rotating shelf walls, flickering screens, a dense sound atmosphere, and unique artistic pieces presented as merchandise on sale question our consumption- and production-driven society.
„Langsamdreher“ (slow moving consumer goods) are goods with a low product rotation, so that they represent an increased storage and sales risk and more frequent shelf gaps occur.

Ibrida Festival 2021
Ibrida is a festival of intermedial arts which started in 2015 for the purpose of investigating and divulging the most recent productions and research carried on in the field of experimental audiovisual (video art, found footage, metacinema, 2D and 3D animation, etc.). The festival naturally includes performance art and electronic music. Ibrida thrives on the seeds planted by Re/Azione (our first event). In 2016 the duration was extended and more venues in the town of Forlì were added to the first one, the Candle Factory, as the festival was very well received by the audience and the professionals.
Ibrida Festival is curated by Vertov Project. Its artistic directors are Francesca Leoni and Davide Mastrangelo operating with the contribution of Piero Deggiovanni critical awareness.

The Bat Effect
The Bat Effect“ will let you hang upside down from the dancefloor. Natural scientist Rym Nouioua and sound art curator Sascha Brosamer will guide you to scientific studies and environmental issues in artistic contexts. In this episode of a documentary-style podcast about bio-art, bat sounds and experimental music you’ll learn about ultrasonic sounds, bioacoustics and Covid-19 spread from bats. Furthermore you will listen to some tracks made mainly by batsounds, based on a sound library from their current project. Besides the communication of bats by recording the ultrasonic noises and presenting them into sound, we will illustrate the interrelation of human and non-human and create points of contact of human and animal shared living spaces.

Dunkelkammer Sessions | Wirtshaus Secrets
Born in Mexico City and living and working in Linz, Austria. Gabriela Gordillo creates participatory and social interfaces, through a trans-disciplinary approach. In her work, sound and listening have the main role as attention to the invisible and the sketch of temporal structures.
Her last project, Dunkelkammer Sessions (2021) in collaboration with the artist and musician Fernando Vigueras, is a transdisciplinary series of telematic encounters between Mexico and Austria, as an exploration of distance and sound as a communication medium.

For this year’s festival trailer CROSSING EUROPE could win over the Linz-based visual artist Laurien Bachmann (*1992). In her work she deals with topics such as the perception of public space and rural topographies through the medium of film, photography, and installation. For the most part she presents her observations in the form of still or moving images and in doing so often transcends the boundary of fiction and reality. In 2020 she presented her work PERSISTENT DISTURBANCE (PE/CL/AR/AT 2019) at CROSSING EUROPE EXTRACTS.
Her video work GRÜN IN shows a seemingly undisturbed natural landscape in lush green. At first glance the idyllic nature looks untouched, complete with a steady stream from a waterfall, and yet there is a digital traffic light across from it. In red letters you see it continuously counting down the seconds: Green in 3, 2, 1 This absurd scene is expanded by a soundscape that consists entirely of digital synthesizers: sounds that could seem natural, booming bass tones, and far away mechanical noises carry the statically filmed scenery, and underline a sense of unease that is created by the unvarying countdown.
The festival trailer 2021, GRÜN IN (AT 2021, 1 minute), will be shown as promotion for the festival on the internet and in selected Austrian art house cinemas, as soon as these are able to re-open once more. (Status: 8 April 2021)
DUNKELKAMMER SESSIONS
Dunkelkammer Sessions is a virtual improvisation platform that explores the intersubjective relations of a dialogue in the distance articulated from the disciplines of dance, performance and sound art.
The format brings together 2 artists from distant contexts and locations, to realize a performative piece, under the premise of using audio as a sole medium of communication in real time. From the proposed set, sound and invisibility reveal the ‚other‘ out of the echo, voice, silence and non verbal communication, that conform new semantic fields where abstraction, telepathy and intimacy can fit.

hungry eyes festival 2021
Das hungry eyes festival, ein Festival an der Schnittstelle von Film, Performance und Installation, wird vom 5. – 7. Februar 2021 im Ausstellungsraum “KiZ” (Kultur im Zentrum) in Gießen, stattfinden.
Gemeinsam mit den Künstler:innen und dem Publikum wollen wir erkunden, wie wir Film abseits vom traditionellen Kinosaal schauen und über Film nachdenken können.
Unser Interesse liegt dort, wo die Grenzen zwischen den Kunstformen unscharf werden.
Durch die diesjährige Verortung im Ausstellungsraum ergeben sich zusätzlich spezifische Fragen, beispielsweise:
Worauf wird projiziert? Wie verhalten sich Filme, Installationen und Performances zu einem Ausstellungsraum? Wie verhalten sich die Arbeiten hier zueinander?
Gerade Film ist ein Medium, das sich immer mehr in die privaten Räume und auf private Endgeräte zurückzieht. Die Möglichkeit, gemeinsam mit anderen Kunst zu schauen und zu reflektieren ist ein wesentlicher Bestandteil des hungry eyes festivals. Es ermöglicht seinen Besucher:innen, sowohl individuelle als auch gemeinschaftliche Seherfahrungen zu machen, sie miteinander zu verbinden und sich selbst als Rezipient:innen wahrzunehmen.

RADIOPHRENIA is a temporary art radio station – a two-week exploration into current trends in sound and transmission arts.
The broadcast schedule includes a series of 20 newly commissioned radio works, live shows and pre-recorded features.
As in previous years the majority of the programme is made up from selections submitted to an international open call for sound art and radio works.

In unserer Zeit, die nach wie vor von der Corona-Pandemie dominiert wird, beleuchtete die KUNSTSAMMLUNG bis vor kurzem die künstlerische Reaktion der oö. Kunstschaffenden auf die Herausforderungen der letzten Monate.
Die zweite Ausstellung seit Beginn der Corona-Pandemie zeigt nun möglichst umfassend, was als Hilfeleistung durch das Land OÖ in den letzten Monaten gezielt angekauft wurde, um die Künsterinnen und Künstler auch faktisch in der Krise zu unterstützen.
Die Werkankaufsjury krempelte bildlich die Ärmel hoch und machte sich an die Arbeit, fährt seitdem durchs Land, besucht Ateliers oder diskutiert mit den Kunstschaffenden auf digitalem Weg.
Als Resultat sind in der Brückengalerie und in der KUNSTSAMMLUNG in den kommenden zwei Monaten als Status quo in einem work in progress-Projekt rund 70 Werke zu besichtigen, die neu in der KUNSTSAMMLUNG des Landes eingelangt sind, und die – einmal mehr – das aktuelle oö. Kunstschaffen quer durch die Sparten und Stilrichtungen präsentieren.

Highlighting “Our Difference, Our Diversity, Our Sensitivity”, International 2 Sides Short Film Festival consists of four mail section: Screen, Armchair, Remix and Plus. With this year’s theme “In my pocket”, the festival aims to reflect the diversity of cultural experiences and the accumulative effect of our personal journeys. The festival will be held between 9-17 October. Due to pandemic, this year’s festival will be fully digital.

Jahr für Jahr bietet die Local Artists-Schiene einen ansprechenden Überblick über das aktuelle oberösterreichische Filmschaffen. Aus diesem Grund macht Crossing Europe im Oktober mit seinem Alternativprogramm EXTRACTS für drei Tage Halt im OÖ Kulturquartier, um heimischen Kurzfilmregisseur*innen ein Forum zu bieten. Erneut überzeugen die Local Artists mit innovativen Experimentalfilmen, coolen Musikvideos, kreativen Animationsarbeiten, dokumentarischen Perlen und neuen Erzählformen im fiktionalen Bereich. Das vorliegende Programm mit 51 Kurzfilmen rückt sowohl frische Stimmen als arrivierte Filmkünstler*innen ins Rampenlicht. So darf sich das Publikum auf drei inspirierende Tage mit Premierenfeeling, ausführlichen Filmgesprächen und einer Preisverleihung freuen.
Im Rahmen der Preisverleihung am 10. Oktober (20:30 Uhr | Eintritt frei!) werden zwei Festivalpreise vergeben: CROSSING EUROPE Innovative Award – Local Artist (€ 3.500,- powered by OÖ Landes-Kultur GmbH) und CREATIVE REGION MUSIC VIDEO Award (€ 1.500,- powered by CREATIVE REGION Linz & Upper Austria).

„unsought goods“ sind Waren, für die es nur eine sehr geringe Nachfrage gibt, da die Konsument*innen entweder nicht von deren Existenz wissen oder sie als lästig empfinden und daher gefühlsmäßig ablehnen. Ausgehend davon untersucht Sebastian Six in der Ausstellung „unsought goods“ unsere von Konsum durchdrungene Gesellschaft und verwandelt mithilfe von Klang, Skulptur und Video das Splace in eine absurde Shoppingwelt. Skulpturale Assemblagen, prozesshafte Eingriffe und akustische Experimente sind die zentralen Elemente seiner audiovisuellen Kompositionen. Durch oftmals kleine Eingriffe werden Prozesse angeregt, deren Ausgang nicht immer gewiss ist.

forum presents ist ein nichtkommerzielles Ausstellungsformat mit dem Schwerpunkt zeitgenössische Kunst und bietet die Möglichkeit von Einzelausstellungen für Absolventinnen und Absolventen der Kunstuniversität Linz, die auch Mitglieder beim Alumniverein forum – Kunstuniversität Linz sind. Neben den Ausstellungsräumlichkeiten Splace oder Galerie WHA der Kunstuniversität Linz sind die Präsentationen in ausgewählten Räumen zu sehen.
Einmal pro Jahr werden die Mitglieder mit einem Call eingeladen, sich für eine Ausstellung zu bewerben. In einem Juryverfahren werden die geeigneten Positionen ausgewählt. Die Ausschreibung für die Termine 2020 läuft noch bis 1. Oktober 2019.

Der Titel der Ausstellung nimmt die vornehmlich negative und abwertende Wendung Im Trüben fischen zum Anlass, um einer bestimmten Form von Melancholie in der Kunst nachzuspüren. In einer Art Abkehr von moralisch Gutem geht es dabei um ein parasitäres Entgrenzen fester Begriffe.
Im Trüben fischen ist eine Taktik bei der sich unklare Verhältnisse zu Nutze gemacht werden. Der franz. Philosoph Michel de Certeau bezeichnet ‚Taktik‘ als „ein Kalkül, das nicht mit etwas eigenen rechnen kann und somit auch nicht mit einer Grenze, die das Andere als sichtbare Totalität abtrennt. Die Taktik hat nur den Ort des Anderen. Sie dringt teilweise in ihn ein, ohne ihn vollständig erfassen zu können und ohne ihn auf Distanz halten zu können. Sie verfügen über keine Basis, wo sie ihre Gewinne kapitalisieren, ihre Expansionen vorbereiten und sich Unabhängigkeit gegenüber den Umständen bewahren kann. Das ‚Eigene‘ ist ein Sieg des Ortes über die Zeit. Gerade weil sie keinen Ort hat, bleibt die Taktik von der Zeit unabhängig; sie ist immer darauf aus, ihren Vorteil ‚im Fluge zu erfassen‘. Was sie gewinnt bewahrt sie nicht. Sie muß andauernd mit den Ereignissen spielen, um ‚günstige Gelegenheiten‘ daraus zu machen. Der Schwache muß unaufhörlich aus den Kräften Nutzen ziehen, die ihm fremd sind.“
Kunst soll in der Lage sein gesellschaftliche Grenzen und Regeln als konstruiert, beweglich und nicht unumstößlich erkennen zu lassen. Ebenso wie Standpunkte zu verschieben, um Fragen aufwerfen zu können, um den Blick zu öffnen, um Horizonte zu erweitern und überraschende Einblicke gewähren zu können. Ort und Zeit sind Parameter unter welchen die Bedingungen dafür ausgehandelt werden.
Das kann bedeuten, dass Kunst besonders dort interessant wird, wo sie ihre eigenen Grenzen in Frage stellt, unklare Felder auslotet und nicht Neues entdeckt. Anstößig, unsittlich, ausschweifend, disziplinlos, unanständig, ungesittet, hemmungslos, lasterhaft, liederlich, unmoralisch, verdorben, verrucht, verworfen, wüst, zuchtlos, zügellos, …, sind Begriffe, welche die Freiheit persönlicher Lebensführung genau so umreißen, wie die vermeintliche Freiheit der Kunst skizzieren.
In welcher Weise stellt sich Kunst gegen verschiedene Formen von Repression? Wie macht Kunst sich ungünstige Verhältnisse zu Nutzen? Und wie unwegsames Terrain für sich nutzbar?
Die Ausstellung wird Arbeiten zeigen die in Erscheinung und Inhalt im Trüben fischen, um sich mit unredlichen Mitteln einen Vorteil zu verschaffen. Dabei geht es nicht darum etwas in den Vordergrund zu drängen, sondern im Gegenteil darum, Bedingungen, die unvorteilhaft für die eigenen Umstände und Vorhaben sind, zu nutzen.

Besides the Screen Festival 2020
I’m happy that our Film Persistent Disturbance is Part of the Besides the Screen Festival 2020 unfortunately only as stream.
The main aim of the Besides the Screen Network is to reconfigure the field of screen studies by refocusing it on those objects, processes and practices that exist besides the screen. Thus, the area of enquiry is broad and aims to bring together questions regarding institutional processes of distribution, marketing and exhibition within enquiries into practices of projection, archiving and curating with new methods of research such as media archaeology. Thus, the aim is to open film and screen studies up to new methods and objects, as well as intensifying the dialogue with other disciplines and practices. In doing so, the Besides the Screen network attempts to understand the continuing transformation of audiovisual media practices. Through workshops, symposia and conference sessions the network will forge links between academics, artists and professionals to refocus film and screen studies on those objects and practices that exist besides the Screen
The project aims to explore the shifting practices and cultures of different forms and events of cinema that exist beside and between screens. In particular it intends to break and reframe the traditional understanding of cinema as collective experience and its institutionalized framework of distributing, displaying and working with images that move. In a constant ever-changing field of audiovisual practices, the network aims to create a new area of research that expands upon and sheds light on processes largely ignored from traditional film and screen studies. The project intends to explore new threads of connections, debate and collaborations within a network of participants, such as students, academics, artists, media labs, and cultural institutions.
The project is co-ordinated by Virginia Crisp (King’s College London) and Gabriel Menotti (UFES, Brazil). It has been supported by the AHRC-UK, Capes, CNPq, and FAPES.

Einst war Oberösterreich – so die Legende – ein El Dorado, ein Land von unglaublichem Reichtum, gelenkt von Frauen mit sagenhaften Kräften. Im Laufe der Jahrhunderte allerdings gingen die geheimen Frauenbünde vergessen – wie das Gold in den Alpen. Aber die Goldhauben sind noch heute ein mächtiges Zeichen für das damalige Matriarchat, und Spuren des einstigen Goldes finden sich an unerwarteten Orten.

Sprache als universelles Werkzeug und komplexes Kommunikationsmittel, als Erinnerungsträger und Inhaltsmediator erscheint in der Geschichte der Menschwerdung als ein Garant für Zivilisation und Kulturfähigkeit. Als Methode des Ausdrucks von Gefühlen, Wünschen und Gedanken verschiebt sich das expressive Vermögen von einer physischen Ebene hin zu einer Geistigen – neben Sinn und Überlieferung überträgt die Sprache das anthropozentrische Welt- und Selbstverständnis auf ihre Klangkörper. Vormals Abstraktes wird durch das konstruierte System der Sprache in textuelle Symbolik gefasst und ermöglicht dabei eine beschreibende Distanz zu der uns umgebenden Welt: Aus einer Vogelperspektive erlaubt Sprache uns die Welt in Codierungen zu erfassen und errettet uns aus den Wirren der Unzuordenbarkeit. Die Welt wird erklärbar und damit steuerbar, gleichzeitig wird ihr durch die Möglichkeit der Beschreibung Inhaltlichkeit verliehen.
Wahr ist, was sich beschreiben lässt – die Wissenschaftlichkeit der Materie behauptet sich vor ihrer Mystik. Als Politikum vermag die Stimme, die Ausdruck der Sprache ist, nicht nur die Welt zu reglementieren, sondern konstruiert in ihrem Sprachvermögen das menschliche Denken selbst. Sie ermöglicht ureigene, menschliche Regungen innerhalb der Parameter von textueller Artikulierbarkeit zu formulieren. In einer Absage an die nicht zuordenbare Autonomie von Regungen und Wahrnehmung unterwirft sich der denkende Mensch seiner eigenen Konstruktion und verleiht der Sprache so ein irreversibles Zugeständnis von Macht. In ihrem deskriptiven Faktizitätsanspruch entwirft die Sprache dabei Modelle von Wahrheit und Unwahrheit sowie von Wirklichkeit und Schein, wodurch das Potential zur Fiktion evoziert wird.
Die von Karolina Radenkovic kuratierte Ausstellung „Whispering Dialogues“ skizziert die Sprache in ihrem Spannungsverhältnis von Faktizität und Fiktion, Fülle und Entleerung sowie ihrem wissenschaftlichen Wahrheitsanspruch, welchem künstlerische Verfahrensweisen gegenübergestellt werden.
In den ausgestellten Arbeiten präsentiert sich Sprache dabei in ihrer Bruchhaftigkeit. Dabei wird aufgezeigt, wie die textuelle Artikulation in ihrer Unzulänglichkeit kaum der (historischen) Dichte der Geschehnisse und den menschlichen Regungen auf einer emotionalen Metaebene gerecht werden kann. In der Ausstellung wird der Wahrheitsanspruch von Sprache sowohl in schriftlicher als auch der mündlichen Ausprägung durch die Übertragung in (audio-) visuelle Medien untersucht. In ihrer Übersetzung vollzieht die Sprache dabei den Schritt zurück zur Abstraktion, welche uns als Betrachter*innen mittels ihrer Haptik unmittelbar begegnet.
Die Macht der Sprache wird uns anhand des eigenen Körpers und/oder der Verkörperung durch ein Objekt aufgezeigt und erfährt dadurch neben ihrer soziopolitischen Bedeutung ein physisches Ausmaß, als körperlich Erfahrbares. Ohne sich der Stimme als explizites Politikum zu bedienen, erschaffen die Arbeiten ein Bewusstsein für die Monumentalität der Sprache, um diese im nächsten Moment mithilfe der ihr eigenen Defekte zu dekonstruieren. Als Quintessenz verbleibt eine Bruchstückhaftigkeit des Sprach- und
Artikulationsvermögens, sowie eine Entleerung der Sprache als sinnstiftende Instanz, was uns zu einer Reise auf ihre spekulative Bedeutungsebene und zu ihrer Neucodierung einlädt.

This retrospective exhibition celebrates bb15’s 10 year anniversary and introduces the new space to the public for the first time. bb15 would like to use this occasion to thank all the artists and the public gravitating around its space, for supporting it throughout the years.
The 10 years anniversary encompasses around 40 artists from numerous countries and is a non-thematic, dense and exuberant exhibition. The show creates an associative overview of bb15’s exhibition practice, displaying the diversity of ideas and approaches within its community, giving the opportunity to build unpredictable links between the presented artworks.

I’m happy to announce that a track Tasty Orange which I used as for my Installation „Heimliches Arbeiten beginnt“ is part of the below20dB Project!
Silence can be defined as a soundscape with loudness below 20 dB. This project is an open archive which collect silence as soundscape / field recording below 20 dB. This is an attempt to create a sound museum of silence. Is an open and on-going project, so everyone can contribute with a silence, sending it by email (20decibel[at]gmail.com).
With the sound some information are required, like: place of the recording, time of the recording and of the day when was taken, type of ambient in which the recording was taken, and of course the author. Based on this catalogue of infos, some publication (like digital collection) will be released showing a particular topic.

In Kooperation mit das weisse haus zieht „sonic objections“ eine akustische und zugleich topografische Verbindung zwischen dem Osten und dem Westen Österreichs. Im Bildraum 01 in Wien und zum Auftakt der dualen Ausstellung werden in Form von Stille und Leere konzeptionelle Arbeiten gezeigt, welche anhand von Symbolen und Worten die Existenz von Klang in stummen Werken präsentieren. Die Ausstellung „sonic objections #2“ im Bildraum Bodensee verbindet unterschiedlichste Strömungen innerhalb der Soundart mit skulpturalen und de-konstruktiven Arbeiten, Apparaturen, Performances, Collagen und Referenzsystemen der Pop-Kultur.

Guest Studio in Paliano at Rome
Since 1999, scholarship holders from Vorarlberg, Tyrol, Upper Austria, Lower Austria and Burgenland have had the opportunity to travel to Paliano to realize projects there.
Three months a year it is available to Upper Austrian artists. The artist’s house is located about 60 km south-east of Rome (between the Albanerbergen and the town Anagni).
Already in the 19th century, the landscape in the Ciociaria was the scene of the Tyrolean landscape painter Josef Anton Koch, who had settled in the neighboring Olevano Romano, to capture the landscape of Latium in their special light and the distinctive colours.
The country house – an old, adapted building structure – is divided into two residential units, comprises two floors with several work and recreation rooms and two bedrooms, a communal kitchen and two bathrooms. The rooms are typical simple, but functionally furnished and furnished, an Internet connection is available. Up to two artists per housing unit are sent per month. The studio house is only available to the scholarship holders.

Sebastian Six ist ein interdisziplinärer Künstler. Raum-akustische Experimente in Verbindung mit Alltagsgegenständen, skulpturale Assemblagen bzw. die physische Komponente von Klang sind die zentralen Elemente seiner visuellen und klanglichen Kompositionen. Die Arbeiten beschäftigen sich mit Momenten, in denen Lärm zu Musik wird und der Unterschied zwischen Hören und aktivem Zuhören erforscht wird.

Founded in 2012, minus20degree winter biennial is a non-profit initiative that promotes art and architecture from around the world. The basic elements of m20d are snow and landscape. the intention is to design or stage diverse landscapes with simple interventions and make them accessible to the public. m20d interprets the existing winter landscape as a laboratory, with snow as the primary resource for all expressions of art and architecture. The 4th edition of the biennial will be staged from the 8th till the 10th of February 2018 in Flachau, Austria.

About the Compilation and the Open Call:
Maps have always been a fascinating way to pass the time as well as a useful tool for navigating a territory. The digital age gave us even more chance to easily locate specific locations or simply to drift off into the exact details of our planet.
For a long time now we have had sound maps which use the framework digital maps provide to tag field recordings to their exact Geo-location. At Sonospace we are taking a different approach. We are looking backwards to the paper maps of long ago. We are linking sounds and compositions from non-related audio recordings to these maps. Re-imagining the world in an artistic and completely fictional way.
So, following the launch of Sonospace Maps at the beginning of 2017 we are now ready to accept submissions for participation. Come with us to map the world with our heart and paint a sonic vision of places we may never visit.

This short residency is aimed at artists with an interest in how we choose to work with others and across disciplines to produce art; and will encourage participants to discuss and experiment with different ways of working, to ask what it is to collaborate, and to test out new ideas together.

Kunst auf Augenhöhe
Assista lädt am 28. September zu einem Happening der besonderen Art. Auf die BesucherInnen wartet ein bunter Mix aus bildender und darstellender Kunst mit Überraschungseffekt.
„ZeitEins“ heißt die Aktion mit den KünstlerInnen der Assista Kreativwerkstätten, dem Zeichner und Sounddesigner David Lipp, dem Multimedia-Artist Sebastian Six sowie dem Theaterkollektiv Iriden.
Für diesen Tag werden Teile von Assista in einen Ausstellungsraum verwandelt. Angelegt ist diese Veranstaltung als Happening. Eine Art der Aktionskunst, in der künstlerische, visuelle, theatralische und auditive Formen vermischt werden. Das Besondere dabei: Das Publikum spielt ebenfalls eine wichtige Rolle und wird vom reinen Betrachter selbst zum Teil des Gesamtwerkes. So erklingt plötzliche Live-Musik aus dem Fahrstuhl oder beginnt eine spontane Theaterperformance im Stiegenhaus: Nach jeder Ecke könnte eine neue Überraschung lauern.
Gezeigt werden Werke von und mit den KünstlerInnen der Assista Kreativwerkstätten, David Lipp, sowie Installationen von Sebastian Six. Musikalisch begleitet wird das Happening von dem oberösterreichischen Singer-Songwriter Bernhard Eder, dem Geiger Florian Sighartner und Multitalent Florian Grossmann.
Die Veranstaltung beginnt um 19:00 Uhr, der Eintritt ist frei.

In the framework of a group residency at bb15, Jan Adriaans (NL), Bryony Gillard (UK), Monique Hendriksen (NL), Marie-Andrée Pellerin (CA) and FAXEN collective (AT) develop a multi-event project in Linz that approaches the notion of noise and randomness on a conceptual level. Communication is considered as an interplay of pattern and randomness, a deterministic network infiltrated with errors, scratches and hiccups. These unpredictabilities shape the pattern again, in a constant process of adaptation. Noise keeps us from predicting the future. There is no blueprint we can draw conclusions from.

A five-day programme combining radio, gardening, hospitality and contemporary discourse in a live radio festival in a garden in the north of Berlin. Datscha Radio 17 uses radio as an artistic medium and as a source of inspiration and action. The process of radio making – otherwise quite a hidden event – becomes transparent in the winter garden of the house. Creative, interdisciplinary and open to everybody, Datscha Radio 17 transforms the privacy of the allotment garden intoa public space for art and communication. You are welcome to participate!
We broadcast from the 25th to the 29th of August 2017 !
With „Plots „and Prophecies“, Datscha Radio will take a look at the future of gardening, the links between biology and technology, and at the changing role of people in this world. Something has shifted in the old imbalance of flora and fauna … and we cannot be so sure that our present awareness will suffice to put these changes into a dialogue with the environment.

The Datscha radio garden assembles practitioners, gardeners and guests from various fields: music and performance, science and art, local and international.

Mediterranea 18 Young Artists Biennale | Tirana/AL | 4. – 9.5.2017
For the very first time, Albania will be the hosting country of the Biennale of young artists from Europe and the Mediterranean, a multidisciplinary event, promoted by BJCEM, that takes place once in two years in a different location in Europe, with young artists aged from 18 to 34 presenting their contemporary works and performances based on the general theme proposed by the Artistic Director.
The Ministry of Culture of Albania, in collaboration with BJCEM, will host 230 artists from Europe and the Mediterranean region. The public will have a different experience of contemporary art thanks to the interesting formula of Mediterranea 18 Young Artists Biennale, the proposed theme and unusual exhibition spaces in Albania.
The Ministry of Culture of Albania, together with BJCEM’s Board approved the appointment of Driant Zeneli as the Artistic Director of Mediterranea 18 Young Artists Biennale, with the responsibility for conceptualizing the theme of the Biennale and setting up the curatorial team, each of the curators curating one of the following six disciplines: applied arts, visual art, performance, literary creation, music and film.
Driant Zeneli is a renowned Albanian artist working between Milan and Tirana, who represented Albania at the 54th International Art Exhibition-Venice Biennale.
He has exhibited at: MuCEM, Marseille, (2016), Centre Pompidou, Paris, (2016); MSFAU Tophane-i Aime, Istanbul, (2016); Prometeogallery di Ida Pisani, Milan (2015; 2010); GAM, Museum of Modern and Contemporaryart Turin (2013); ZKM, Karlsruhe (2012); MUSAC, Castiglia León. Spain, (2012); Prague Biennale 5, Prague (2011); National Gallery of Kosove, Prishtine (2010); Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Villa Croce, Genoa (2009); National Gallery of Tirana, (2008).
Driant Zeneli conceptualized the theme of Mediterranea 18, having considered the following:
- The main aim of BJCEM association, which is the use of art as a tool to promote diversity and intercultural dialogue;
- the growing complexities of political, social and economic structures in the world and finally Albania, the hosting country of the Biennale that is defined by its isolated and communist past.
The theme is History + Conflict + Dream + Failure = HOME, and much more than a simple equation, Zeneli’s curatorial concept describes why HOME is grounded on these four elements:
‘’… History, intending the archive of the unaccountable number of individual stories, recorded or forgotten. Conflict, to consider the way we share homes. Dream as the project of home, as the fundamental human right to be free to choose and desire our real or imaginary home. Failure as the inner resistance of the various attempts, transformed along the way in search for the dream home’’.

The 230 selected artists will exhibit in some unusual and though-provoking spaces around Tirana and Durrës. The exhibition spaces include former communist sights, museums, buildings, installations, etc. The selected artists will be hosted in Tirana and Durres from May 4 to 9, 2017. In those days they will have the opportunity to show their works and will perform in the spaces provided in the two cities. The exhibitions will be open to the public until May 28, 2017.

Puréed Noise Soup is a hybrid sound event, that involves a series of concerts, a workshop and an interactive installation, that puts together artists with different views of sound, which sources are data sets, live-coding, analogue and digital sounds, or electronic circuits. Observing the variety of this sound performances as if they were different tastes of ingredients, we want to present it as a process to make a puréed soup: all artists will provide different materials, that in the end, will be a unique sonic food for the audience.
Observing the sound performance as a tasting experience, an on-site installation, allows the audience to taste the ingredients themselves, and make their own mixes through interaction, as a first encounter with the sounds of each performer.

You are standing in front of the door with a dull memory of alcohol and flickering light. Your slow-drying sweat sucks the cold deep under your skin and the reverberation of too-loud beats fades into an eternal hum in the ears. “What is now, are you coming?”
Acoustic experiments in connection with items of everyday life, sculptural assemblages and the physical element of sound are the main aspects of Sebastian Six’s musical and visual compositions. The works deal with moments where noise becomes music and the difference between hearing and active listening is explored.

The CreArt European Exhibition “Notes on tomorrow” will be presented in Aveiro (Portugal) on Friday, 28th October. The show, curated by Luísa Santos has the collaboration of 21 projects from the Creart network. If we think of contemporary art as a social system – an idea coined by Niklas Luhmann (1992) putting the arts in the realm of perception -, we locate art in what it does at its best: showing possible realities, through a critical observation, of the world we live in, at social, economical and political levels.
It is precisely in this idea that the history of the collective exhibition Notes on Tomorrow unfolds. The characters (the works) of this story come together in a series of dichotomies. Firstly, the large in conflict with the small; on the other hand, the visual formalisation of the contrasts between History, fiction and memories; the relationship between the observer and the observed; contemplation and creation; networks of information, stories and seemingly random events; and, finally, the contradiction between known and unknown, translated by the desire to discover, to change to something beyond the horizon and, paradoxically, the need for familiar refuges.
These dichotomies are not about presenting definitive answers for contemporary society’s challenges but more about looking into a series of questions, observations and experimentations. In this way, these representations reflect the ambivalence of human relations. In other words, it is about visually translating small utopia’s at local levels through inventions, desires and propositions.
Notes on Tomorrow comes in a series of twenty-one voices from different European cities (Arad, Aveiro, Genoa, Harghita County, Kaunas, Kristiansand, Lecce, Pardubice, Valladolid, Vilnius, and Zagreb) to dwell on possible perceptions about current social issues and includes installations, drawings, texts, diagrams, videos, photographs and different kinds of situations. – Luísa Santos

FAXEN got the subnetAIR residency 2015, so we’re now invited to present the work ON AIR on 21th of September at the Schmiede in Hallein.
A helium filled balloon equipped with microphones is used to create expansive field recordings of urban areas. This method allows the artist collective FAXEN to record multiple acoustic transitions between divergent areas in an urban environment. Sonic zoom-in and zoom- out movements that oscillate between subjective and objective points of view, between actual and abstract and between close by and far away. Arranged as a multi-channel sound installation ON AIR invites the listener to explore the diverse acoustic topography of a city.

Interacting Art | Raumschiff, Linz/AT | 7. – 12.9.2016
A play on artworks, works in process and working things out by doing – together. Through negotiation, juxtaposition, and re-contextualization, various works and non-works will be woven into an interface for the audience, built through interactive, textual and performative processes.
The project is based on a collective process initiated by Sam Bunn, Davide Bevilacqua and Sebastian Six and hosted by Raumschiff the week before the opening of Ars Electronica.
There’s no excuse for our lethargy: since we already possess the ideas, tools and techniques to initiate a change of course. The collaborative display here exhibited turns non-functional works into functional un-works, reaching towards how art might work between artworks. The project uses the medium of interaction in a way that allows the pieces to leave the traditional space of artistic discourse and to occupy instead the space of dialogue.

The Radio project Radiophrenia from Glasgow will Broadcast the FAXEN Piece “In this momentary awareness I tried to tell myself,…“ !!
“In this momentary awareness I tried to tell myself,…“ mixes quotations of deep sea explorer Jacques Piccard, with unexplained recordings from the deep sea and field recordings from the spa. In 1960 Piccard dived with his submarine “Trieste“ to the bottom of the Mariana Trench with a depth of 11,034m. Never attempted again he is still the only person who visited this extreme environment. His unique reports from the dive give an insight into a world without any light that requires to focus on the auditory perception.
It will be aired on Monday the 29th of August from 8:00 to 9:00 in the Program „Shorts 1“.

The FAXEN work Double Layer is Present in the Creart Exhibition „Notes on tomorrow“ in Kaunas (Lithuania)
The Lithuanian city of Kaunas will present on 17 June the CreArt European Exhibition “Notes on tomorrow” in Mapu 20 and Meno Forma galleries. The show, curated by Luísa Santos has the collaboration of 21 projects from the Creart network. With occasion of the opening, some of the artists will be present and there will be organized also parallel activities.

„NOTES ON TOMORROW “ CURATED BY LUISA SANTOS
If we think of contemporary art as a social system – an idea coined by Niklas Luhmann (1992) putting the arts in the realm of perception -, we locate art in what it does at its best: showing possible realities, through a critical observation, of the world we live in, at social, economical and political levels.
It is precisely in this idea that the history of the collective exhibition Notes on Tomorrow unfolds. The characters (the works) of this story come together in a series of dichotomies. Firstly, the large in conflict with the small; on the other hand, the visual formalisation of the contrasts between History, fiction and memories; the relationship between the observer and the observed; contemplation and creation; networks of information, stories and seemingly random events; and, finally, the contradiction between known and unknown, translated by the desire to discover, to change to something beyond the horizon and, paradoxically, the need for familiar refuges.
These dichotomies are not about presenting definitive answers for contemporary society’s challenges but more about looking into a series of questions, observations and experimentations. [H:UMMMM] examines, elaborates and processes the functionality of sounds in modern spa/wellness zones in manifold ways. Interrelations between sound and social, medical, architectonic and artistic contexts will be investigated, discussed and analysed. These contexts will be examined in relation to sound studies and Michel Foucault’s concept of Human Geography.
[H:UMMMM] explores the ties and liaisons of artistic and academic approaches in a site-specific spa-centre heterotopia in Linz, Austria. This will take place on April 9th, 2016. By exchanging all audio sources of the bath, experiencing performances, installations and lectures the spa area of the wellness oasis Hummelhof is converted into an auditory spa/wellness heterotopia of a different kind.

Die Form bedingt den Ton könnte eine Maxime des Instrumentenbaus sein. Wenn jedoch die Form eines Dinges zur Herstellung eines Tones mindestens gleichberechtigt zeichnet, führt uns diese Aussage direttissima zur »Deformation der Stille«.
Der Ton transformiert hierbei die Form, so möchte man rückwirkend hinzufügen – und zwar nicht nur in jenem bestimmten Kontext, in dem beide existieren, sondern bereits davor: denn die Form des Apparates zur Herstellung eines Tones unterliegt bereits einer Zweckgebundenheit. Der Begriff »Zweckgebundenheit« täuscht allerdings gerne über die damit gewonnenen Freiheiten bei der Suche nach einem geeigneten Formenvokabular, das eine tatsächliche Vertonung impliziert, hinweg.
Klangliche Installation, akustische Plastik, donnernde Performance, ächzende Grafik, murmelnde Malerei – einige in verschiedenen medialen Bereichen verankerte hybride Stützkonstruktionen geraten in den Fokus unserer Aufmerksamkeit: Wer einen Ausstellungsbeitrag übersehen möchte, braucht Ohrenstöpsel, um sich nicht die visuelle Ausprägung durch den in Dezibel messbaren Output vorstellen zu müssen.

Listening Post, Expedition Sonar und Arbeiten der Reihe Sound Passagen bilden die Basis für die weitere intensive Beschäftigung mit dem Themenfeld Soundart.
Die Arbeiten von Maja Osojnik (im LENTOS Leseraum) und der Künstlergruppe Faxen (im Zentralaufgang) siedeln sich am Schnittpunkt von Innen und Außen an und bieten eine auf die auditive Ebene konzentrierte Wahrnehmung.
MAJA OSOJNIK
Das Phänomen des „Shitstorms“, dessensignifikante Auswirkungen und unkontrollierbare Reichweite inspirierten Maja Osojnik zu ihrer Soundarbeit. Auslöser, Mausklick, Kettenreaktion.
Wie Wassertropfen zu einem Fluss sammeln sich die Informationen und entwickeln eine wirbelnde und zerstörerische Kraft.
Zur Person:
Maja Osojnik (geb. 1976, Kranj/Slowenien) arbeitet als Sängerin, Komponistin und Musikerin. Sie bedient sich neben normalen Instrumenten auch häufig gefundener Objekte, Spielsachen oder umfunktionierter Elektrogeräte als Quelle für ihre Sounds. Maja Osojnik bewegt sich mit ihrem künstlerischen Schaffen in den Bereichen freier Improvisation, Sound Art und Experimental Jazz.
FAXEN
Die auditiven Merkmale ausgewählter Räume des LENTOS Kunstmuseum dienen als Grundlage einer Komposition, die Nachhall und akustische Reflexionen in den Mittelpunkt der Auseinandersetzung stellt. Musikalisch interpretiert werden Aufnahmen zeitlich verdichtet und als Mehrkanalkomposition wiedergegeben.
Zur Künstlergruppe:
Seit 2004 arbeiten Clemens Mairhofer (geb. 1984, Linz), Lucas Norer (geb. 1982, Innsbruck) und Sebastian Six (geb. 1980, Vöcklabruck) als Künstlergruppe FAXEN zusammen. Raumakustische Experimente in Verbindung mit Alltagsgegenständen, skulpturale Assemblagen bzw. die physische Komponente von Klang sind zentrale Elemente musikalischer wie visueller Kompositionen der Künstlergruppe.

(h)ear is a foundation which focusses on sound art and experimental music and makes effort to initiate dialogues with other art disciplines in order to create and stimulate. (h)ear organizes concerts, performances, workshops, lectures and curates exhibitions about sound art. Based in the Netherlands.
(h)ear is an art initiative located in Parkstad Limburg which in particular focuses on complementing existing cultural initiatives through sound art and experimental music. We promote sound art as an independent discipline initiating dialogue between other arts and existing initiatives. By providing (temporary) locations and platforms for live performances of (sound)artists we create the opportunity for various disciplines within the arts to connect and react. To achieve this we organise inovative performances, presentations, exhibitions and workshops by (sound)artists and curators, with the aim of stimulating the development and communication and debate within the arts. We don’t have a presentation space or ‚fixed‘ stage. Instead we use (temporary) sites, vacant buildings, project rooms at institutions and art centers, museums or public spaces, all clearly eligible for projects which (h)ear initiates.

Hubert Lobnig kuratiert Arbeiten von Studierenden und AbsolventInnen der Experimentellen Gestaltung der Kunstuniversität Linz.
Der Terminus „Transposition“ und der Terminus „Change“ werden hier für die Arbeit von KünstlerInnen eingesetzt, die auf sehr ungewöhnliche Art mit Wirklichkeit umgehen. Es steht für einen Prozess von feiner Wahrnehmung und Übersetzung – vielleicht für eine Transportation und Transformation auf eine andere Ebene, die neue, differenzierte Sichtweisen ermöglicht.
Zugleich stehen die Begriffe für die Kunst von Hubert Lobnig, und seine kuratorische und vermittelnde Tätigkeit, die er seit nun fast 20 Jahren auch an der Experimentellen in Linz ausübt. Lehre, die immer in der Position der Transformation, des Austausches von Konzeptionen und Kompetenzen, des Wechsels und der Veränderung aufgebaut ist – ständig in Bewegung.
Die Ausstellung wird eine Vielzahl von hervorragenden Arbeiten von Studierenden und Absolventinnen der Experimentellen in Linz in unterschiedlichsten Medien zeigen. Neue Arbeiten, aber auch Werke und Projekte, die schon in Ausstellungen gezeigt und unterschiedlichen Öffentlichkeiten präsentiert wurden, Diplomarbeiten, Arbeiten, die außerhalb des universitären Zusammenhangs entstanden sind aber auch manche, die aktuell in der Experimentellen entstehen.
Zusätzlich befragt die Ausstellung die Position von KünstlerInnen, die eine Trans-Position in der Gellschaft einnehmen, also keine fixierte, sondern eine bewegte, die das Dazwischen als Chance für Wahrnehmung und Erkenntnis definiert.
Die Experimentelle Gestaltung wurde in den 1970 er Jahren von Laurids Ordner (Haus-Rucker-Co) gegründet, 1993 von dem Philosophen und Ausstellungskurator Herbert Lachmayer neu ausgerichtet an der Schnittstelle von Kulturwissenschaften und künstlerischer Forschungspraxis und wird seit 2002 von Andrea van der Straeten geleitet. Hubert Lobnig hält seit 1993 grundlegende Lehrveranstaltungen und hat seit 2003 den Schwerpunkt ortsbezogene Kunst und Kunst im öffentlichen Raum mit zahlreichen Lehrveranstaltungen und Projekten ausgebaut.

„Can the material bear the sensation it upholds? And can the sensation stand upright, express itself, produce pure sensory qualities, through the material forms and forces it lays hold of?
Die Klanginstallation „Testing The Equipment“ ist ein konkreter akustischer sowie architektonischer Eingriff in die Räumlichkeiten des AfG und widmet sich im besonderen den vor Ort verbauten akustischen Deckenpaneelen. Diese universell eingesetzten Bauelemente sind Kennzeichen moderner Architektur und definieren seither maßgeblich die Akustik von Innenräumen wie Büros, Geschäftslokalen, Schulen, etc…Über das Entfernen einiger Deckenpaneele wird somit die Raumakustik des AfG manipuliert und der Blick in den darüberliegenden Hohlraum freigegeben. Die entnommenen Paneele dienen als Material zur Konstruktion zweier Lautsprecherboxen die jeweils ein rhythmisches Signal wiedergeben, welches die Raumresonanz auslotet.“ (Faxen)
